Although Serre-Chevalier is one of the largest skiing areas in the Alps with 250 km of piste, remarkably it is not as well known as most of its rivals to the north. Partly as a result of its lower profile the 13 villages that make up the resort have retained their rustic charm and there is a friendly unpretentious atmosphere throughout the valley. The high proportion of local residents here give a good indication of the all year round lifestyle available here and affordable property prices. The slopes cater for all standards and offer great variety, with some very attractive woodland runs, open bowls and lots of off piste. The nearest airport is at Turin, which is 1.5 hours away and Grenoble and Lyon are also within easy reach.
The project is situated in the village of Chantemerle, centrally located within the valley providing excellent access into the skiing area. The slopes come right down to the village including the famous Luc Alphand piste named after the local hero who was a double world champion downhill skier. From the apartments it is just a short walk to the slopes and the village centre where there is a good choice of bars and restaurants. Looking down the valley there are wonderful views and the river runs right past the front door.
This is one of the few projects that meets virtually every criteria, walking distance to the slopes, shops and restaurants, part of a large well linked skiing area in an attractive setting ideal for all year round use. If you hate purpose built resorts but don't want to compromise on your skiing this is the resort for you. Prices being far lower than many comparable resorts also make this an interesting investment opportunity.
