Annecy-le-Vieux is, by its population, the 4th largest town in the haute-Savoie and is part of the 13 communes in the Annecy agglomeration. The actual population is 21 000 and the suface area is 1700 acres of which 300 are forest. It is situated only 1.7km from Lake Annecy and boasts several parks, squares and play areas providing a superb place for both young and old to live. There is also a large University complex with about 4 000 students as well as the business park 'Les Glaisins', with 3 500 emplyees. There is a local market in Annecy-le-Vieux which takes place every Wednesday morning on the 'Rue des Pommaires'.
