Tignes, being part of the L'Espace Killy, is one of the most renowned and exclusive ski resorts in the Alps. It boasts a huge skiing area of over 300 km of slopes and is where the French ski team chooses to train. Being one of Europe's highest resorts at 2100m, snow is almost guaranteed right down to the resort throughout the whole season. Thanks to the presence of the glacier, you can also ski all year round. The area is on the edge of "Le Parc de la Vanoise", a protected National Park, which makes Tignes an interesting base for trekking too. The Espace Killy links two of the most famous resorts in their own right in the French Alps, Tignes and Val d'Isère creating over 300 km of ski slopes ranging in altitude from 1550 metres to 3450 metres. There is even summer skiing in Tignes on the Grande Motte glacier, there is a range of blue, red and black runs. Tignes is a lively resort with a lot of restaurants, bars, nightclubs, shops etc Tignes is world renowned and plays host to several big events such as the acclaimed Winter X Games, Tignes is the first resort outside of the States to host this event!
