The best skiers in the world met on the 'verte des Houches' at the top of the Kandahar run on Friday 19th February for the alpine combined and on Saturday the 20th February for the men's downhill; 2 disciplines both counting towards the coveted World Cup 2016.

The French ski team managed to turn the podium blue, white and red. After the french triple in the combined in Kitzbuhel (Pinterault, Muffat-Jeandet, Mermillod Blondin), this is another triumph with a double french victory which sent the public wild in Chamonix.

The skier from Courchevel Alexis Pinterault triumphed in the super-combined and win the Crystal Globe in this discipline; the first of his career. Thomas Mermillod Blondin, the skier from Grand-Bornand, took 3rd place only 30 hundreths of a second behind the Iatlian Dominik Paris, relegating as a result Victor Muffat-Jeandet off the podium.

The Italian did not stop there. Dominik Paris made an impression the next day in the downhill, with a ln impressive run which won it for him and left him on the top of the podium 35 hundreths ahead of Steven Nyman (USA) and Beat Feuz (Switzerland). Guillermo Fayed, the local lad from Chamonix, came 4th.

Emotional for the champion from Le Grand Bornand... The French victory on the Friday was capped by an engagement. After his run, the skier from Le Grand Bornand Thomas Mermillod Blondin, called "Millod" asked his girlfriend Cecile to marry him in front of the crowds at the Kandahar 2016. An emotional demand, which was accepted without hesitation!
