The charm of authenticity, the dynamism of modernity

Labelled " Famille Plus ", " Bicycle friendly ", " Quality tourism " or even " Natura 2000 ", the village resort of Grand-Bornand, located 30 minutes away from Lake Annecy, 1 hour from Geneva and Mont Blanc, is a destination with many facets in a magnificent landscape...

In the heart of the Aravis, "le Grand-Bo" extends over two areas. The village is located at an altitude of 1,000 m. This typically mountainous village with its "grenette" (local name for covered market), its church, its square and its shops offers a panoramic view of the Bouchet valley, a famous Nordic ski area.

4 miles higher, welcome to the Grand-Bornand Le Chinaillon, the ski resort. Here, make way for the 17th century chalets and its ski area: 86 km of slopes on the Grand-Bornand ski domain (with Mont Lachat at 2,100 m), 211 km on the Aravis Massif - including Le Grand-Bornand, La Clusaz, Manigod and Saint-Jean-de-Sixt. In winter, there is plenty to enjoy in contemplative or sporty winter sports, until after sunset thanks to the "night skiing" evenings!

The little gem of the Aravis area.

Home of the Biathlon World Cup in December, of the n°1 charity event of the French Alps "Glisse en cœur" in spring, and of the European cultural festival for young people "Au bonheur des Mômes" in August, Le Grand-Bornand has the particularity to live all year round and to adapt to all its visitors.

Here, culture happens in all sort of forms:

  • natural with its privileged environment, a true life-size land art (labelled "Natura 2000"), near the summits and Lake Annecy;
  • artistic with its numerous events, concerts and the Grandborama: its 55 cabins, real works of art!
  • gastronomy thanks to the diversity of small artisanal and local productions (cold meats, cheeses, wines, beers) and mountain pastures;
  • sports all year round, with skiing (alpine and nordic, day and night) until spring, biathlon initiations, trappers' evenings, ski joëring, paragliding, or treks, hiking or 2-wheelers (Label " bicycle friendly "), Le Rocher Blanc golf course, climbing, fishing, white-water sports...

Much more than a destination, Le Grand-Bornand is a real experience to live and share!
