Dynamic village resort in Les Portes du Soleil…

Magnificent landscapes, preserved nature, varied activities winter and summer, Châtel seduces as much by its dynamism as its charm. Here, the expression "to take the air" finds all its meaning...

Situated between Lake Geneva and Mont Blanc, in the authentic Abondance Valley, Châtel is a traditional village resort on the largest mountain bike area in Europe in summer, and the largest cross-border ski area in the world in winter: Les Portes du Soleil.  Labelled "Famille Plus", "Pays d'art et d'histoire" and "Flocon Vert" (label rewarding the sustainable commitment of mountain tourist destinations), Châtel, between tradition and modernity, is a sensational multi-destination destination!

Traditional Village

Châtel is a village resort in the Haute-Savoie region, located on the French-Swiss border. Châtel has managed to preserve its environment and its mountain identity. With a rich architectural heritage characteristic of the valley, its large wooden chalets with chiselled balconies, its neo-gothic Saint-Laurent church listed as a historic monument, its late 18th century presbytery, the village is not just a façade, but a real place to live and be filled with history and life... and the ideal starting point for a whole host of activities!

Dynamic resort

Contemplative and sporty, artistic and gastronomic, family and resourcing, Châtel is a land of multi-sensory discovery in every season. The largest mountain bike terrain in the world linking 12 resorts with just one ski pass, a paradise of trails, the largest cross-border ski area in the world, the Portes du Soleil and its 600 km of slopes are the Garden of Eden for all lovers of wide open spaces and sports - amateur or professional.

Escape, work out, recharge your batteries, swim, pedal, run, and even take flight thanks to the Fantasticable... from 1,100 to 2,400 m altitude, life-size activities are multiplied tenfold for the joy of all. If the most seasoned traileurs and hikers find here an exceptional practice area, families will also enjoy themselves!

With no less than 60 weekly activities in summer (snacks in the mountain pastures, children's shows, a fun trail to discover the history of smuggling, an aquatic centre...) and events galore, Châtel is more than a resort: it is a 4-season destination.
