Historical and natural heritage
30 minutes from Chamonix and Megève, 1h15 from Annecy and Geneva, Les Contamines-Montjoie has found the perfect balance between tradition and modernity. Traditional by its environment, its village, its hamlets and its typical architecture; modern by its multiple services and activities, summer and winter.
If its village, situated at an altitude of 1,164 m at the foot of Mont Blanc, is already steeped in history (a guaranteed favourite for its sumptuous baroque churches, including the Sainte-Trinité, the former castle of Montjoie), the discovery of Les Contamines-Montjoie extends to an altitude of 3,892 m.
A heritage and historical golden nugget, the resort is also renowned for its mountain pasture chalets preserved at the heart of exceptional flora and fauna in the only protected area in the Mont-Blanc massif, from which the destination draws its mascot: the little owl, the smallest European nocturnal raptor and an essential species in the national park.

Les Contamines-Montjoie is a favourite destination for families (Label « Famille Plus »)and cycling enthusiasts (recently labelled "Accueil vélo"). Les Contamines-Montjoie offers the largest natural leisure park in the Mont-Blanc country. 30 hectares of relaxation and breathtaking panoramas, for more than 25 activities to share with friends or family. Climb the Duchère rock, walk to the exceptional Mont-Joly lookout, swim in the turquoise waters of the Lac du Pontet, gallop between lake and mountains, pedal in contemplative mode to discover the heritage of Les Contamines-Montjoie or in sporting mode on the pumptrack, relax, recharge your batteries... here an air of freedom blows over the mountain!
