Les Gets, the joy of living in the Portes du Soleil
Posted on 12 May 2023
Heading for the Portes du Soleil, one of the largest ski areas in the world, which has many trump cards in its lucky hand: optimal sunshine, ideal snow conditions and a gigantic playground that stretches over a dozen resorts in the French and Swiss Alps, for 650km of slopes and 400km2 of open countryside. Unlimited range of activities.
It is here, at the heart of this domain which breaks all barriers, that the resort of Les Gets has managed to position itself with all the character of mountain villages which tell a story. Ideally located, only 1 hour from Geneva airport, between Lake Geneva and Mont Blanc, Les Gets pulses with the rhythm of a year-round heartbeat, even if its pulse accelerates sharply in summer and winter.
The passion of a family and sports resort
In the frosty winter,
at an altitude of 1172 metres, the resort of Les Gets wraps itself in the wool of its cosy atmosphere and opens the way to a skiable area spread over 120km of pistes for all types of skiers, from the most novice to the most experienced.
The summits in sight, from the Mont Chéry, the Mont Caly or the Ranfolly, (a real wonder!), the panorama opens on the roof of Europe, the Mont-Blanc in the viewfinder.
At the height of summer,
Les Gets plays its mountain bike card and is the leader in the sector with a Bike Park of 128km of marked trails and privileged access to the largest Bike Park in Europe, the Portes du Soleil mountain bike area. Pedal and ride on 650km of marked trails, 22 lifts dedicated to this purpose! Base camp for mountain bikers but not only, pioneer of the "two wheels", the little queen wears all the outfits; mountain bike model, road and now elec' to ride tracks and paths at full speed, link peaks and hills or simply ride easily and enjoy an exhilarating environment, helmet in the wind.
Family-oriented as well as festive,
it is around its village centre, which has kept its architectural charm with its wooden and stone chalets, that the resort is booming.
Shops and restaurants, squares and terraces punctuate the local and tourist life, setting up a certain art of living. With its centuries-old heritage - the origins of the village date back to the 11th century -, its mountain gastronomy, its luminescent Alta Lumina events, its enchanted night-time tours and its mechanical music, Les Gets is on the move.
The Chalets Séléna, a harmonious building
It is quite naturally and in keeping with this claimed mountain identity that MGM has signed with the Chalets Séléna a project that is well anchored in the local heritage. With its combination of stone and wood, inspired warmth and authenticity, and large openwork balconies, the architecture of the Chalets Séléna is in perfect harmony with the tradition of the resort's built heritage.
Close to the slopes and with a wide-angle view of the surrounding mountains, this intimate condominium residence offers a wide range of high quality services for all its flats, from 2 to 4 bedrooms.
Optimal thermal and acoustic insulation, hydraulic underfloor heating to regulate the temperature room by room, a fully equipped kitchen and large balconies are just some of the turnkey features.
In terms of materials, the mountain identity extends into the alcove of the cocoon interiors with fir doors, wood panelling and white plaster in the living room, larch parquet flooring in the bedrooms, a granite worktop in the kitchen and a granite washbasin in the bathroom to complete the picture of stone and wood down to the last detail. The combination of mineral and vegetal elements creates a typical interpretation of the heritage character of the place.
