What's new for the 2015/2016 season...

New ski lifts in the Portes du Soleil

This year, the resort of Saint-Jean-d'Aulps has renovated its ski lifts with the installation of the 'Têtes' chairlift, and reinforced its snow coverage with a new sector of snow cannons in the 'Bellevaux' area.

In Avoriaz, a new 6 seater chairlift has been added and a new blue run created underneath. Also, there will seen be a new halp-pipe zone next to the existing one, allowing beginners of this discipline to practice.

New luge and ski runs

Although the Swiss resort of Torgon is equipped with a new slope dedicated to luge and 'Yooner' (Fignard area), Chatel in France created a new inter-domain slope, La Forestiere. Winding through the pine trees and dropping down above the Lake, it allows skiers to ski back to Vonnes from Super-Chatel.

The Portes du Soleil, the largest international ski area in Europe

Located on the Franco-Swiss border, the ski area 'Portes du Soleil' includes 8 resorts in the Haute-Savoy (Abondance, Avoriaz, Chatel, La Chapelle d'Abondance, Les Gets, Montriond, Morzine-Avoriaz and Saint-Jean-d'Aulps) as well as 4 resorts in Switzerland (Champéry, Morgins, Torgon and Val d'Illiez – Les Crosets-Champoussin). A total of 650 kms of skiing between 280 slopes, putting the Portes du Soleil among the largest international domains in Europe. A distinction and an image which the domain is committed to conserving via a constant modernisation of its infrastructures and services.

Spending your holidays in Chatel is to take advantage of excellent conditions…In addition to lots of sunshine, this international domain ensures, thanks to its micro-climate, excellent snow conditions throughout the ski season, with an accumalated level of snow of 7.5 m on average per annum. In order to counter any potential snow shortages, the resort of Chatel has reinforced its snow making capacity. In 2010, Chatel invested nearly 7 million euros in the construction of the largest altitude dam in France and installed 20 new snow cannons. An investment which means Chatel is well equipped to make quality artificial snow, and in large quantities, to help people enjoy their holidays.
